Raising public awareness, scrutiny and accountability of American bases in the UK. Activity undertaken on US Military Bases whether by the military themselves or by the US National Security Agency (NSA) is not overseen by the UK Parliament even though the bases are named as RAF Bases and have a named UK military officer named as "Base Commander". In reality the UK's Base Commander has a very limited role and does not command the US personnel.

Supporters of the Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign and Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) gathered at the main gates of Menwith Hill on 30th April 2021 to mark the International Day of Action Against Foreign Military Bases.

On 30th April 2021, The Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign (MHAC) and Yorkshire CND will stage a protest outside the US base at Menwith Hill, joining global peace movement calls for an International Day of Action against Foreign Military Bases

Bob Cryer MP campaigned for transparency at Menwith Hill. A memorial tree was planted in his memory.

Former Labour MP Ann Cryer has said she is “very upset” at plans to remove a memorial tree dedicated to her late husband at an entrance of RAF Menwith Hill in Nidderdale.

Bob Cryer, who was the Labour MP for Bradford South, died in a car accident in 1994.
